SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - A small business owner who runs a Spokane Valley gaming shop for teenagers was forced to temporarily close the shop doors after burglars stole $14,500 worth of goods.
Game On, located at 11800 block of East 1st Avenue, is a place for local teenagers to hang out, watch movies, and play?video games as well as play fighting game tournaments, FPS tournaments, and sporting tournaments.
Spokane Valley Police said crooks broke into the shop late Monday evening or early Tuesday morning. The items stolen include eight Microsoft 250 GB X-Box gaming systems, eight Microsoft X-Box 360 wireless controllers, eight Microsoft X-Box wired controllers, 150 X-Box 360 video games, one X-Box 250 GB external hard drive, one X-Box 120 GB external hard drive, one Belkin brand N150 wireless computer router, one Toshiba lap top computer, 100 Blue Ray DVD movies, and $200.00 cash.
"We were already struggling to keep our doors open as it was. This, this is devastating," owner Sabrina Hartley said. "Until we get things figured out and squared away, we close our doors. We have no way of doing business right now."
After a year of running Game On, Hartley said she?never expected a break-in since the entryway doors are steal and always locked.?Also, the?only pair of windows?in the whole shop are doubled-paned glass. The thieves, however, managed to break through one of the windows, which is the size of a dog-door, and get away with nearly everything inside.
They did leave some flat-screen TVs behind but that's only because, police believe, the thieves got spooked. Wires and cords that connected the TVs to the Internet had all been cut.
"Honestly, the worst part of the whole thing is that?[police] think it was somebody who's been in here before, somebody I've talked to, somebody I've been nice to," Hartley said. "It just makes me think, how stripped of your moral values can you be for something like that?"
Hartley is currently working with her insurance company to see when she can re-open Game On.
Spokane Valley Officers are asking for any information from the public to assist with their investigation.
