After Scrutiny Over Pay, Chiropractic College's Chief Announces ...

George A. Goodman, the longtime president of one of the nation?s largest nonprofit chiropractic colleges and the subject of scrutiny after the institution revealed the high earnings of his family members who also work at the college, announced on Thursday that he would retire next year. Mr. Goodman has led Logan College of Chiropractic University Programs, in Missouri, for two decades. The institution paid him $791,418 in 2009-10, according to a Chronicle analysis, making him the highest paid of the leaders of the nation?s 14 nonprofit chiropractic colleges and putting his compensation at the level of the presidents of elite research universities. In a written statement announcing his decision to retire in March, Mr. Goodman said he was ?honored to have been a part of Logan during such a dynamic period in this institution?s history??a time in which the institution credited him with expanding its enrollment, programs, and endowment.
